Thank you for making this report, I am interested in learning more about how’s the market is moving. I wonder why you said with bigger players opening new offices in Vietnam, it could create more challenges for mid-size studios in Vietnam? Where are the indie developers positioned within this trend. What are the actions we (Vietnamese developers) should take to benefit the most from this trend?
To expand on my thoughts re: challenges/ opportunities for local devs when more global studios set out to put their offices here in Vietnam.
- Local studios will be competing for the same talent pool with them, and those mid-sized will struggle to access top talent, with lower brand recognition, and less resources to pay top $.
- On the other hands, for indies, this might be a great opportunity to get better publishing/co-dev deal (more alternatives to local publishers), not just in the financial sense but also knowledge transfer/transparency :)
My 2 cents is: invest in your team, open to collaboration but ruthless in who you work with, and if you can, ride the wave of capital as this is a "once in a life time" opportunity for fund raising :)
